Insurance broker regulations and other information about Consello ehf




Consello ehf has an operating license from the Financial Supervisory Authority of the Central Bank of Iceland. Consello ehf's operating license covers the brokerage of primary insurance in its entirety according to Articles 21 and 22 of the Insurance Act No. 56/2010.

Consello ehf has professional liability insurance with Vörður tryggingar hf.

Is promoting that Consello handles information in accordance with the law on personal data protection and privacy, cf. Act No. 90/2018 on Personal Data Protection and the Processing of Personal Data, as well as other legal regulations that are applicable at any time and concern the processing of personal data and confidentiality obligations.

This includes all employees, board members, as well as others who undertake work on behalf of Consello.

The rules apply equally to information that customers/liabilities have provided to Consello themselves, as well as information that Consello has obtained about these parties. The rules apply to all electronic processing of information as well as its manual processing.

Retention of customer information

Information about Consello's customers is stored in electronic form. Electronic storage of data shall be on a secure information medium where security measures are updated in accordance with defined requirements at each time. Information about customers/liabilities in paper form is stored in a secure document storage facility.

The company has established procedures for the storage and destruction of personally identifiable data. Data containing information about customers/recipients is securely destroyed, paper is sent for destruction and electronic data is systematically destroyed in accordance with the aforementioned procedures.

Information about Consello's customers is access controlled. Access permissions for an employee are based on their role and area of work within the company. An employee should only access the information they need for their job.

In the employment contracts of employees, and/or in a special confidentiality declaration of contractors, there is a provision for confidentiality and duty of confidentiality. An employee shall maintain the utmost confidentiality regarding anything he becomes aware of in the course of his work concerning the company and its customers that may harm the interests of these parties. Due to the nature of his work, he is required to treat all information, documents and data to which he has access in the course of his work with the utmost confidentiality. This confidentiality continues after termination of employment.

Customers have the right to receive a copy of data containing information concerning their affairs at Consello. If a customer requests a copy of data, the request must be clear and state in a specific manner which data is requested. Data is only provided to customers upon presentation of personal identification or sent to their legal address. Data is also provided if a valid power of attorney is presented, such as from a lawyer.

Consello is responsible for ensuring that the processing of personal data is in accordance with laws and regulations and takes appropriate security measures to ensure this is the case.
